Why I'm Choosing a "Slow Girl Summer" in Business (And You Can Too)

Last month, I had dozens of heart-to-heart conversations with business owners from all walks of life—new founders, seasoned pros, and everyone in between.

(If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember I invited folks to apply for a free research call in exchange for a bit of coaching.)

And despite the different industries, income levels, and business models... the same theme came up again and again:

  • You’re exhausted.

  • You’re over the hustle.

  • You want to build a business that supports a life you actually enjoy.

Burned Out by the Business World? You're Not Alone

We didn’t just talk strategy—we talked feelings. Like how draining it is to constantly sell on Instagram. Or how hard it is to stay visible when you’re mentally and emotionally tapped out.

After those conversations, I ran transcripts and summaries through ChatGPT to get an overarching view of what everyone’s craving most. Here's what came through loud and clear:

  • A meaningful impact without burnout

  • A spacious, simple business that leaves room for life

  • Sustainable systems that sell (without constant effort)

  • Authentic marketing (without the cringe tactics)

  • Creative freedom with a side of structure and direction

And honestly? SAME. This is exactly why I’ve been having what I like to call a “Slow Girl 2025” since January.

Why I’m Ditching Hustle Culture in 2025

Last year was a huge success on paper. I crushed my goals. Sales were amazing. But underneath the shiny numbers? I was completely wiped out.

So in 2025, I made a big decision: I want to make the same amount of money while working about half the time.

And I won’t lie—it’s been both peaceful and incredibly disorienting.

I’ve never had this much white space in my calendar. I’ve never been so committed to doing business differently. But that doesn’t mean it’s been easy.

I thought by spring I’d have the next chapter of my business all tied up with a neat little bow.

Spoiler alert: I don’t.

The Hardest Part of Building a Sustainable Business

Most days, the internal chatter sounds like this:

“I should have this figured out by now!”

 “I need to sell more!”

“Someone wants to work with me... but I don’t even know how right now so I’ll just avoid it!”

This liminal space—the in-between of knowing something has to change, but not quite knowing what—is deeply uncomfortable.

It’s also where real transformation starts.

What’s Actually Felt Good This Year

Even with all the uncertainty, here’s what I do know:

I feel more free, spacious, content, and aligned than I have in a long time.

Which is why I totally understand why so many of you are craving this too. It's not lazy or selfish. It's smart. It’s sustainable.

Ready to Have a Slow Girl Summer With Me?

Here’s your permission slip to slow down—without checking out.

Even if taking the whole summer off isn’t realistic, what if you let yourself:

  • Swap your lunch scroll for 10 minutes walking barefoot in the grass

  • Take no more than two calls a day

  • Put just 3-4 things on your to-do list (instead of 10+)

  • Create before consuming content

  • Unfollow creators who make you feel bad about yourself

  • Log off at 5pm and actually stay off

  • Say “no” or “not right now” to things that don’t feel aligned

This isn’t about quitting. It’s about checking in—with your nervous system, your energy, your creativity, your true capacity.

If you’re still figuring out what that looks like for you, that’s okay. I'm still figuring it out too.

Let’s build businesses that feel like freedom. Let’s do it together.
