How to Validate Your Offer Before Building an Evergreen Funnel

Evergreen sales funnels are the ultimate dream, right?

You’re outside enjoying summer (maybe digging in the garden if you’re me), while notifications roll in all day:

  • New email subscriber

  • $149 sale

  • Another new customer, on autopilot

No launch stress. No deadline panic. Just passive income, flowing like clockwork.

But here’s the thing...

Even though I’ve created tons of high-converting evergreen funnels for clients, I don’t have one set up for my own business yet.

Now that I have something that could be perfect for evergreen—my self-paced course, ChatGPT for Lead Magnet Genie—I’m finally ready to test the waters.

But before I build out the whole funnel? I need one thing: product validation.

Validate Before You Automate

You can’t automate a funnel that doesn’t convert. And you definitely can’t rely on passive income from a product that hasn’t proven it can sell on its own.

It doesn’t matter how polished your funnel is—without proof that people are willing to pull out their wallet, it’s just a fancy email sequence that won’t pay off.

Here’s what I mean:

  • I’ve given Lead Magnet Genie away for free to early testers

  • I’ve gotten great feedback

But when I put a $149 price tag on it? Will new leads still buy?

That’s what I need to know before going evergreen—and that’s what you need to know, too.

Why Most Evergreen Funnels Flop

There’s a reason evergreen funnels sound good in theory but often fail in practice. Here’s what you actually need before you ever automate your sales:

A Proven Live Launch

You need to launch your offer live—at least once—before setting it on autopilot.

Why? Because live launching gives you:

  • Real-time feedback

  • Direct audience engagement

  • Messaging insight

You’ll learn what objections come up, where people hesitate, and what language actually lands.

You can’t fix a funnel if you don’t know what’s broken.

A Steady Stream of Leads

Evergreen funnels only work if there’s consistent traffic.

It doesn’t matter how good your emails are—if no one’s seeing them, no one’s buying.

Before you flip the "evergreen" switch, make sure you have at least one reliable lead source (like organic content, a paid ads strategy, or a strong referral pipeline).

Tight, Fast-Connecting Messaging

In a live launch, you might nurture your audience for weeks. In an evergreen funnel? You’ve got minutes.

Your copy needs to:

  • Hook attention fast

  • Clarify the offer’s value

  • Answer “Why this?” and “Why now?” almost instantly

Good copy isn’t just helpful in evergreen. It’s essential.
